Abstract
Finite-element analysis is a widely used technique in gathering data by carrying out simulations especially in the field of Biomedical Engineering where phenomena happening inside the body can be conveniently simulated. Coronary stent deployment during Angioplasty surgery is one of the applications of this. The process involved creating the stent, balloon, artery, and blood through a CAD software and conducting the simulation through a finite-element solving software. A total of three stent designs were used and their deployment inside the artery were simulated. Blood was then introduced and a Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation was carried out. Graphs and contour plots were used to present the data with. The results affirmed the importance of stent design in decreasing the possibility of restenosis and described the behavior of blood flow in a stenosed artery.
