Abstract
This research proposes the use of EEG devices and servomotors for PWD assistance especially for that suffering immobility from the neck down. These devices will be integrated in a wheelchair. This project would greatly reduce the amount of effort to use wheelchairs around
There are about 15% of the world’s population that suffer some form of disability. There are many factors that contribute to this phenomenon. Aging, accidents, diseases, and other in born disabilities all contribute to the growing number of PWDs in the world. The economy of the country also affects these figures. Low-income countries are susceptible in having high rates of PWDs. About 80% of them are living in these countries. Due to being poor and having the lack of access to basic services and treatments, their needs cannot be addressed properly.
The main objective of this project is to create an operational motor controller that can extract and read brain signals to convert them into usable commands. These commands will function as the movement for an automated wheelchair using two motors. The specific objectives of this project are as follows. To be able to develop a non-invasive brain-computer interface that will be able to: extract signals from the brain and convert them to usable commands, reduce noise from the signals, provide commands for the motors, and develop a system to move the device in different directions through motor speed control.
