Abstract
In this action research, we aimed to address the over workload in the Information Management Team of the Asset Integrity and Reliability Unit. We aimed to achieve the right balance of workload that affects our personal and professional lives. The manifestations of the presented issue were the poor performance, the timeliness of attending to customers’ needs, and lack of productivity. Our objectives in this action research were to set a new deadline system for our targets and KPIs, enhance the individual’s time management skills, and improve the team’s morale. Likewise, our primary goal was to be more efficient as an employee to be more effective and productive as one group. Guided with the IAR tools, we collected data using the first-person inquiry, second-person inquiry, and third-person inquiry. Countless meetings were conducted to discuss what we needed to do collaboratively. We used the strategic technique to help us brainstorm, plan and evaluate our move guided by scientific frameworks. To achieve our goal, I encouraged my collaborators to be vocal about their concerns that may help us in moving forward. It was never easy, but it was worth all the time that we spent working on these concerns. We conducted surveys and gave out forms to really participate in solving the problems inside the team. The first cycle was executed to properly address the issues that happened inside the workplace that involved our performances. On the other hand, the second cycle finally fixed the emergent issues that surfaced after the first cycle. The activities that we planned and executed proved to be effective for the group, as we confirmed in evaluating the positive outcomes that we got throughout this process.
