Abstract
Generally viewed as an integral part of an organization’s information assets, the documentation of the as-is and to-be process maps became one of the key focal points and activities of De La Salle University’s digital transformation journey. The initial part of the study delved into formulating a process architecture for the Student Life Cycle domain using reference frameworks, particularly CAUDIT and APQC. The process redesign efforts, meanwhile, guided by the principles of the Lean Technique, allowed the intrinsic identification of process inefficiencies and non-value-adding activities, that in turn, led to the capture of processes that are aimed to increase the organizational flexibility, centered on the more pivotal goal of improving the overall student experience. The results of this study may help reinforce the appropriate perspective of using processes as an organizational glue that shall not only address knowledge silos and lack of process ownership but also pave the way to the creation of a sustainable competitive advantage. This study, the key lessons, challenges, and milestones can also help other HEIs that are to embark on their own strategic transformation initiatives.
