Abstract
Bago pa man maiugnay sa mga ilustrado at propagandista o maging kritiko ng kolonisasyong Espanyol at Amerikano, kahanga-hanga na ang hanay ng mga kontribusyon ni de los Reyes sa pangkalahatang aktibidad ng periyodikal na palimbagan at intelektwal na diskursong lokal lalo na sa usapin ng folklore at ingklusibong pagkabansa. Alinsunod dito, nilayon ng disertasyon ang pagtatanghal ng mga kabatiran at aral mula sa diskurso ng Araling Filipino ni de los Reyes na maaaring madaling maunawaan ng mga iskolar at mag-aaral ng kasaysayan at Araling Filipino, tagapagsulong ng Wikang Filipino, at mga manunulat at mamamahayag ng bansa. Nahahati sa pitong kabanata ang pananaliksik: 1) paglalahad ng suliranin, 2) rebyu ng mga kaugnay na literatura, 3) metodolohiya, 4) intelektwal na talambuhay ni de los Reyes, 5) matitingkad na tema ng mga obra 6) paglalagom sa Araling Filipino ni de los Reyes, at ang 7) kongklusyon. Pinakalayunin ng pag-aaral ang magmungkahi ng ilang aspekto at dimensyon sa proseso ng pagsasaalang-alang ng mga aral at kabatirang mahahango mula sa diskurso ni de los Reyes bilang isang mahalagang kontribusyon sa kontemporanyong Araling Filipino.
