Abstract
This paper evaluates factors affecting competitiveness of firms in the Philippine garments industry. An econometric model was developed using technology, compensation per worker, human resource, capital and financial sector, size of a firm, and clustering as the independent variables. The authors use cross-sectional data analysis in their regression. Based on the empirical results of this study, among the six variables presented in the model, only technology, compensation per worker, and size of a firm were found significant. It is recommended that further studies consider not only other non-price factors but price factors as well to see the real impact of such factors on competitiveness.
