Abstract
Mental health issues among persons deprived of liberty have increasingly become a concern in various correctional settings. This study examines the moderating role of social support in the help-seeking behaviors of two hundred sixty-three (263) Filipino women deprived of liberty, which is crucial for a successful reintegration into society. Findings reveal that social support moderates the relationship between help-seeking attitudes (𝑝 = 0.008), perceived subjective norms (𝑝 = 0.008), perceived behavioral control (𝑝 = 0.006), and actual help-seeking behavior among women deprived of liberty with social support strengthening the influence. These indicates that social support strengthens the effect of these factors on actual behavior. These results underscore the critical role of social support highlighting that it not only enhances help-seeking behavior directly but also intensifies the impact of social support hence it is crucial to give attention on the need for policies in local government and correctional institutions that foster social support and expand access to mental health resources. Recommendations for further research and interventions are also provided to better support Filipino women deprived of liberty in addressing mental health challenges.
