Abstract
Tres Passing is a collection of short vertical films that highlighted and executed the factors of a compelling TikTok video, content-wise and technical-wise. With five (5) films of around three (3) minutes each composing the collection, namely Snatch, Kinse, Recite, Positive, and Bente, Tres Passing explored the interplay between the social and underlying political themes as commentary on the TikTok phenomenon, which is the digital campaign that led to the victory of incumbent President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. Cristy is the central female lead of the series. The films explored her everyday struggles as a Filipina worker in relation to the current socio political climate of the country. Such issues vary from unfair labor practices (Kinse), misogyny (Positive), historical revisionism (Recite), inefficient transportation system (Snatch), and recurring themes of religion-related toxicity (Bente). All issues presented are also the core themes explored in the digital TikTok campaign of Bongbong Marcos. The proponent was specifically curated as content for TikTok, adhering to the technicalities of a standard video in the platform from its vertical aspect ratio, short length, and appealing genre treatment. Rather than being evident about the themes presented, the films of Tres Passing only subtly alluded to the issues as a response to the algorithmic behavior of TikTok that helps generic content appeal and reach wider audiences.
