Abstract
“Unplugged: A Digital Detox Journey” exhibits the connection between the dilemma of the digital world and mental health, highlighting the benefits of digital detox and how it is essential to isolate and practice consuming healthy habits in our daily lives rather than being addicted to phones. In an era of relentless screen time, instant connectivity is right at our fingertips—receiving notifications and consuming any type of information everywhere, from messages to calls. While the digital world provides many conveniences, it is addictive and can contribute to mental issues like anxiety and depression. Digital detox means experiencing real life in the very present moment without any distractions. Clear (2018) mentioned that it takes about twenty-one days to form a habit, and our environment has a big influence on it. Engaging in real-life healthy habits such as exercising, reading, or pursuing hobbies may be difficult at first, but it provides deeper pleasure to the brain than simply scrolling through social media for hours. Unplugged features 22 photographs: (1) introductory, 20 shots, and (1) end credit, that invite viewers on a digital detox journey. A 4-day photoshoot with a social media influencer was scheduled through e-mail communications. Each photograph captures the step-by-step detox journey, witnessing a transformation from being mentally anxious to being happier. This reminds the viewers to seek and find a healthy balance between digital and real life. 8X12 JPG Format.
