Abstract
Help Wanted is a short horror film that seeks to explore the dark and absurd side of risking one’s own humanity to meet their needs. It features Ambo, an unemployed man seeking a way to ease his financial burden by working for Ester, the owner of a restaurant that secretly serves human remains to monsters.
The film seeks to give a fantastical and harrowing discussion of the lengths people will go to to make a better life for themselves or their loved ones. It is all too clear reality that people will commit atrocities or subject themselves to extreme hardship if it means improving their status in life. The horror genre allows for a more vivid exploration of the project's theme, as well as allows the group to have more creative freedom in expression while simultaneously fitting the proponent’s shared interest in producing a horror film.
In the interest of observing time and financial constraints, the film was produced within the surrounding areas of DLSU logistical ease in production.
The film does not seek to make any generalizations about the precarious situations of people, but rather, through showing a cautionary tale of greed, desperation, seeks to spark discussions on the ethicality of compromising oneself for the sake of having a better life.
