Abstract
Family X is a lighthearted family drama that shows the life of family members caring for neurodiverse individuals. Taking care of a neurodiverse individual can take up a lot of time in the caregiver’s life, constantly needing to take care of the individual since they cannot often do so themselves. This can take up so much of their time and life without leaving much room to be themselves, which often results in fatigue and burnout. These screenplays show the journey of Bella, a young girl who becomes her brother’s caregiver after her mother’s disappearance, which upsets her. Throughout the show, she begins to learn more and more about her brother and his world as she spends more time in it. This, in turn, makes it hard for her to balance her studies and hobbies. Eventually, she slowly begins to lose herself in the role, leaving her studies and hobbies aside to do whatever Ethan needs help with. She soon realizes that her mother also felt the same way and understands why she left. The story shows the hardships of caregivers, who, though they love the individual, still find it hard to take care of them and balance caring and living.
