Abstract
This study explores the persistent issue of enforced disappearances, also known as desaparecidos, in the Philippines. It highlights the influences of Entertainment-Education in a time wherein news coverage highlights the desire of the families for their loved ones to return but often falls short of evoking a deep sense of empathy from the public. The short film "Krayola" offers a new perspective on the issue of desaparecidos, focusing on the grief and mourning of the families of the disappeared. It explores the aftermath of finding out that family members were abducted, emphasizing the psychological impact on children and family dynamics. By employing the Entertainment-Education lens, the film seeks to balance emotional engagement with raising awareness about the serious issue of enforced disappearances. This study involves qualitative interviews with direct relatives of the victims, particularly within Metro Manila, to understand their personal narratives and the coping mechanisms they have developed in the face of such tragic losses. The project aims to spark a conversation about accountability and justice for the families of the desaparecidos. The film was produced and captured in an S-Log3 picture profile in a MOV format. This format was selected to preserve high resolution and ensure compatibility across multiple platforms.
