Abstract
The effects of the advancements in technology and the internet have been deeply felt for the past decade or so. Recently, activities that were once dealt with physically are now taken to a cyber lever. In particular, casino games are not only found in tangible establishments, but also along the lines of online portals.Electronic games that cater to gambling have been around for quite some time in the Philippine scene, however, Daily Fantasy Sports, a more compact scheme of betting on sports teams as compared to a full season of wagering, has only recently emerged in the Philippine territory. This research aims to examine the bounds wherein DFS sites operate and intends to determine whether or not Philippine laws and jurisprudence are capable of attending to the affairs of DFS operators and their respective sites. This research made use of three parameters, namely, P.D. 1869, R.A. 9487, and P.D. 483 to determine the extent of PAGCOR's regulatory powers on this new, exciting and surfacing fashion of online gambling.
