Abstract
Estudios han reportado que los pacientes infectados por COVID-19 pueden presentar manifestaciones orales y maxilofaciales con múltiples aspectos clínicos. Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos Infomed, PubMed y SciELO cuyo objetivo fue describir las principales manifestaciones bucomaxilofaciales relacionadas con la COVID-19. Se obtuvo como resultado un total de 24 artículos seleccionados según su adherencia a la temática. El impacto de la COVID-19 sobre las estructuras orofaciales guarda relación con el sistema inmunológico del paciente, la farmacoterapia administrada y la patogenia del virus. La heterogeneidad y prevalencia de estas manifestaciones ha determinado la necesidad de realizar exámenes intraorales rutinarios por estomatólogos como parte del enfoque multidisciplinario requerido para el éxito del tratamiento.
