Abstract
Si bien el libro de Tornetti fue citado por algunos autores, éstos pareciera que no lo consultaron porque hubieran mencionado valiosos datos allí consignados. Es nuestra intención dar a conocer esta obra que adjuntamos, traducida al castellano, publicada en Italia en 1711. Previamente analizamos los motivos y el contexto en que fue escrita por un longevo párroco de iglesia, conciudadano del biografiado, en tiempos difíciles para la Italia del siglo XVIII. De allí que analizamos brevemente el desarrollo del género biográfico dentro de los jesuitas del Paraguay, como a su vez una biobibliografía del Padre Antonio Ripari, para luego abordar los aspectos centrales, es decir el autor, la dedicatoria, el impresor y sobre todo el contenido del texto. Un protagonista jesuita que se convirtió en paradigma de un tiempo y ejemplo para jóvenes, entregando la vida por la profunda convicción de su fe cristiana.
