Il villanello della Ginestra leopardiana, che fugge con la famiglia lasciando le sue povere cose mentre la lava del Vesuvio avanza e distrugge, ha grandi padri: Omero, Virgilio, Dante. Il più importante, però, il più vicino a Leopardi, è il poeta dell'Eneide.
