Abstract
Animal experiments were performed to study various problems connected with the development and treatment of Waterhouse-Friderichsen's syndrome. Very high doses of corticoids (prednisolone up to 24 mg./kg. daily) in the early stage of the syndrome may well cause a favourable response. There is no justification for fearing that adrenal steroids may precipitate a Sanarelli-Shwartzman phenomenon or accentuate it.
