Abstract
This study reports the electroencephalographic findings in two siblings with neuroacanthocytosis. Slowing of the background activity with diffuse slow waves was the main finding in the daytime EEG. All-night polysomnographic recordings were characterized by high voltage slow activity during drowsy state and REM sleep. One patient with an average of 40 episodes of apnea per night of sleep was treated with imipramine and showed respiratory improvement. Cette étude présente les résultats électroencéphalographiques de deux enfants (frère et soeur) atteints de neuroacanthocytose. Le résultat principal concernant l'EEG diurne a été un ralentissement de l'activité de fond avec des ondes lentes diffuses. Des enregistrements polysomnographiques effectués pendant toute la nuit ont été caractérisés par des activités lentes de grande amplitude pendant les périodes d'assoupissement et de sommeil REM. Un des patients, présentant une moyenne de 40 épisodes d'apnée par nuit a été traité à l'imipramine et une amélioration de sa respiration a été constatée.
