Abstract
This paper presents a brief outline of some recent measurements of the ranges of keV heavy ions in solids. Typical results are given for (a) Ranges of 133Xe and 198Au ions in single crystal Au, (b) Effect of target temperature on heavy ion channeling in crystals of Au and Al, (c) Ranges of 125Xe ions in amorphous Ta2O5 and (d) Ranges of 133Xe ions in crystals of UO2. A more detailed account is given of experiments to determine how ranges in crystals vary with ion mass at constant ion velocity.
