Abstract
The structure of 6H Ba3Sb2NiO9 has been determined by profile analysis of powder neutron diffraction data. The antimony atoms occupy the pair of face-shared octahedra and the nickel is confined to the corner sharing octahedron. The unfavorable SbSb repulsion is compensated by atom displacements from ideal positions.
