Abstract
A high statistics measurement of the ${D}_{s}^{+}$ lifetime from the Fermilab fixed-target FOCUS photoproduction experiment is presented. We describe the analysis of the two decay modes, ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}(1020){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{K}}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{K}^{+}$, used for the measurement. The measured lifetime is $507.4\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.5(\mathrm{stat})\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}5.1(\mathrm{syst})\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{fs}$ using $8961\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}105$ ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}(1020){\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and $4680\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}90$ ${D}_{s}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\overline{K}}^{*}(892{)}^{0}{K}^{+}$ decays. This is a significant improvement over the present world average.
