Abstract
Questo articolo cerca di stabilire alcune correlazioni tra le fotografie eseguite all’interno dell’ospedale parigino della Salpêtrière e la visione estetica di Schiele. Più di ogni altro artista del suo tempo, Egon Schiele si occupa dell’ansia e di mettere a nudo, con la scioltezza nervosa del suo segno, i meccanismi dell’inconscio. Egli analizza le fotografie scattate ai malati dell’ospedale della Salpêtrière, sfogliando un testo pubblicato da Charcot nel 1875, ma anche osserva i malati dal ‘vivo’, all’interno delle istituzioni psichiatriche viennesi.
