Abstract
Este trabajo tiene como fin dar a conocer un crucificado, el más temprano que se documenta de Alonso de Mena y Escalante. Una obra, efectivamente, de mediana calidad, mas donde iconográficamente sigue muy de cerca el prototipo fijado magistralmente por Pablo de Rojas y sus más inmediatos seguidores. Ejemplo paradigma del manierismo final, del que Mena pronto se aleja, influido por otros escultores totalmente coetáneos como los Hermanos García, Juan de Mesa, etc., para crear su modelo propio, ya plenamente naturalista y que, con más o menos acierto, calidad y ligeras variantes, cultivará a lo largo de su carrera profesional.
