Abstract
O romance O Ateneu, de Raul Pompéia, ainda provoca discussões quanto à sua filiação estética. Publicado no auge do realismo/naturalismo no Brasil, o texto apresenta um estilo predominantemente impressionista, com uma força visual que impressiona e denuncia, enfocando aspectos sociais e afetivo-sexuais no contexto de um internato. Com foco na personagem infantil Sérgio, o protagonista e narrador-personagem, pretendemos verificar neste artigo como o texto escrito é recriado pela versão em arte sequencial (história em quadrinhos), publicada por Marcelo Quintanilla, em 2012. O objetivo principal é tentar entender como o artista/roteirista conseguiu captar o olhar do narrador-personagem sobre o mundo do internato, e, em especial, os episódios que evidenciam as relações de cunho homoafetivo vividas por Sérgio, e materializar esta visualidade.
