Abstract
The article examines the possibility of formation of the extra field in television images, in both theoretical and methodological perspectives. By developing this analysis, initially are considered the characteristics of television device - which impairs the formation of the extra field - to then, briefly, approach the general aspects of this concept, especially when associated with cinema. Finally, the possible relationship between TV and the extra field is retaken as an area of tension, which casts important methodological challenges. The hypothesis that leads this paper is that TV tries to control the most out of its extra field images in order to avoid its disrupting elements.
