Abstract
Reports on more than two hundred performed tracer tests with artificial tracers on karst areas in Slovenia havebeen published in national and international professional publications since the beginning of 20th century. Basedon the review of collected data, the results of the tracer tests, which were carried out in the last twenty years, arebriefly presented and supplemented with the citation of sources of obtained information. For the whole periodof approximately one hundred years some common characteristics of the performed tracer tests are described.Gained experiences confirm that the method of tracing is an important research tool in studies of karst aquifers. It can be stated also that a detailed plan of tracer test should be prepared in advance in order to get valuable results.
