Abstract
Este ensayo es una aproximación básica a la forma como se ha estudiado la familia en la historiografía puertorriqueña. Se describen las tendencias temáticas y los tratamientos metodológicos, así como las cronologías más abordadas. Se observa que la demografía y la sociología fueron recursos importantes a la hora de construir los marcos explicativos de los estudios explorados.
