Abstract

Meskipun setiap tahunnya puluhan ribu bayi lahir dengan cacat kongenital akibat infeksi Rubella, sampai saat ini Rubella masih kurang mendapat perhatian (neglected disease), baik oleh petugas kesehatan, karena penyakit ini seperti juga infeksi virus lain, termasuk penyakit yang sembuh sendiri (self limiting diseases) serta angka kematian tidak ada atau 0%. Sehingga para pemegang kebijakan kesehatan di negeri ini tidak menganggap penyakit Rubella sebagai penyakit prioritas. Seperti kita tahu dalam Sistim Kesehatan Nasional, yang dianggap penyakit prioritas, adalah penyakit yang morbiditas dan mortalitasnya tinggi.

Para petugas kesehatan kurang memperhatikan penyakit Rubella, karena sulit mendiagnosa, sebab Rubella tidak memperlihatkan gejala yang khas.
