Abstract
Neste artigo, apresentam-se os resultados iniciais de trabalho que vem sendo realizado por meio de projeto de pesquisa intitulado Produção e Circulação de Manuscritos no Período Colonial Brasileiro: Contribuições para a História da Língua Portuguesa. Tem o objetivo de buscar dados que permitam maior segurança na utilização de documentação manuscrita em circulação pública, de modo a propiciar conjunto confiável e consistente para descrever a escrita em língua portuguesa no Brasil setecentista. O corpus se limita à documentação relacionada ao Governador e Capitão General da capitania de São Paulo, Rodrigo Cesar de Menezes, cobrindo o período de 1721 a 1728.
