Abstract
O trabalho defende que as noções teóricas básicas da Lingüística do Texto (LT) estão contidas nas propostas teóricas da Gramática Funcional (OF). Argumenta-se que, se a LT tem em vista a "competência textual", só se pode admitir um aparato de análise que contemple o uso da língua produzindo sentidos para cumprir funções, isto 6, uma teoria que faça, acima de tudo, a interpretação dos textos (interacionalmente motivados), que são, afinal, as reais unidades de uso.
