Abstract
O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar a importância da leitura virtual na aprendizagem da língua inglesa, tendo como princípios norteadores a teoria da Biologia da Cognição de Humberto Maturana e Francisco Varela, os estudos sobre tecnologia de Pierre Levy, bem como os pressupostos de Edgar Morin e outros pesquisadores da complexidade. Para um melhor entendimento da apropriação da leitura como um processo de auto-organização, os pressupostos mencionados orientam para a possibilidade de complexificação da aprendizagem através do uso pedagógico das novas tecnologias, mais especificamente da leitura virtual. Visando contribuir para a prática docente, relato uma experiência através de atividades de leituras hipertextuais em aulas de língua estrangeira.
