Abstract

The article The Role of Evidence in Investigating Homicide Crime firstly presents theoretical approaches to homicide and criminal investigation and, at a second instance, identifies and describes the role of evidence in such a crime investigation in light of the theoretical framework of Bruno Latour, about the work of police officers and criminal experts. Evidence in a criminal investigation offers indirect access to the events that led up to the crime and have two important dimensions: they are material remains, which might be transmitted, stored and accessed during the course of an investigation, and they are also representations of events, that shape the dynamics of a fact or event.
