Abstract
La presente investigación forma parte de un estudio más amplio donde se analiza la percepción de distintas alteridades por parte de inmigrantes mexicanos en Estados Unidos, con testimonios de 1 265 migrantes procedentes principalmente de la región del corredor industrial abajeño de Guanajuato. El tratamiento de la información por medio de entrevistas se apoya en la hermenéutica profunda. Los testimonios directos sobre identidades culturales suman 76 casos, que conforman seis por ciento de todas las respuestas. El análisis comparativo se basó en el eje de buena impresión, contrastándolo con la mala impresión; también se compararon las diferencias y las similitudes. Los migrantes mexicanos tienen buena impresión de casi todas las alteridades, salvo de los afroamericanos, quienes son percibidos predominantemente en la categoría de mala impresión.
