Abstract
Este trabajo intenta indagar en primer lugar sobre las ventajas del sistemade transporte ferroviario urbano de pasajeros desde distintas perspectivas.En segundo lugar se revisa el estado actual del mismo en el Área Metropolitanade Buenos Aires (AMBA). En la sección siguiente se presentanalgunos modelos propuestos para el servicio ferroviario europeo. Luego seintenta hacer una transferencia de los modelos descritos al AMBA y porúltimo se enuncian algunas conclusiones.
