Abstract
This study presents the first stranding records of Ziphius cavirostris (Ziphius cavirostris Cuvier, 1823) (Cetacea, Odontoceti) in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. The first occurrence was recorded in the second half of 2007 on Trindade Island (20°30’46,82”S, 29°18’26,32”O), a volcanic island located 1.167km away from the mainland, where morphometric data were not collected. The other occurrence was recorded in the second half of 2009 in the city of Vila Velha (20º22’570”S, 40º18’292”O), where morphometric data were collected.
