Abstract
During the 1970s thousands of Argentinians fled their country due
to harsh state repression targeting any kind of political dissidence. Italy has been a main recipient of these refugees, yet the Italian government has never legally recognized their condition as such. However, despite the lack of welcoming policies, large sections of the Italian population mobilized to support the Argentinean exiled, building significant solidarity networks.
