Abstract
Este artículo se centrará en analizar el mito de Salomé en el modernismo hispánico a través de la poesía de Francisco Villaespesa, Rubén Darío y Delmira Agustini. Con ello, se pretende ilustrar el recorrido de esta mujer fatal desde su construcción como arquetipo literario hasta la desmitificación final en la poesía de Agustini. Siguiendo la construcción intertextual de este mito en sus deudas con la literatura y otras artes del fin de siglo en Europa, se repasarán sus imágenes de perversidad y se examinarán sus causas y condicionantes, tanto estéticos como ideológicos. Al final, a pesar de los cambios y transformaciones, debido a su esencia subversiva, el mito permanece y se sigue poetizando. En sus diferentes versiones, es un arma con la que el artista de fin de siglo elabora su alternativa a una sociedad burguesa utilitarista con la que no está de acuerdo.
