Abstract

The prevalence of leprosy has been decreasing year by year, but there is an increasing number in the type of leprosy Multi bacillary (MB), 46,8% in 1993 up to 80,7% in 1994 and 84,2% in 1995. Information about the profile of leprosy cases is needed as a way to handle the leprosy problem. The study was conducted in Sarang Subdistrict, Rembang Regency in 1996. Sample consisted of 44 leprosy cases found by conducting a special survey by door to door visiting. Most leprosy cases found were 20-24 years, were men (70,5%o), had low education (95,5% elementary), suffered from leprosy type MB (75,0%), about 29,5% of the other family members also suffered from leprosy, and the time of living together of the otlier family suffering from leprosy with the leprosy cases (sample) was more than 3 months.
