Abstract
Rogério Luiz de Souza busca contextualizar no livro a questão da Ação Social Católica no cenário do pós-guerra (1945-1965), buscando pontuar problemáticas que conjecturem a intenção do catolicismo em construir uma nova ordem mundial, alicerçada nos princípios da democracia cristã como a paz, a solidariedade, a cooperação e o desenvolvimento dos povos. Neste contexto, a análise se vincula a proposta de integração do espaço rural a um projeto desenvolvimentista brasileiro, tendo como fim os sujeitos que ali constroem suas práticas de vivência.
