Abstract
Si atendiendo a la cronología, apreciamos que nació en Caracas el 16 de mayo de 1906, que ya hacia 1920 publicaba sus primeros ensayos y algunos versos, y que hasta las proximidades de su muerte no dejó de ofrecer a la imprenta las muy diversas manifestaciones de su pluma, advertiremos que se trata de más de 80 años de sostenida y meritoria dedicación a la escritura literaria. Y también –valiéndose sobre todo de la prensa y la televisión en buena parte de este período– de una referencia crítica y orientadora de resonancia nacional, en momentos en que Venezuela vivió un vuelco cabal desde la gran hacienda gomecista hasta la modernidad petrolera y cosmopolita.
