Estuda-se a formação da urbanização turística em contraste com o espaço social do cotidiano de Caxias do Sul, RS. Objetiva-se nesta pesquisa compreender as relações de novos elementos materializados no local, com seus produtores e consumidores, na reprodução social do espaço. Pesquisa de caráter exploratório com embasamento metodológico histórico-genético. Assim, objetiva-se analisar o processo de urbanização como categoria de análise na constituição da malha urbana da cidade. Nesta pesquisa adota-se uma lógica de reconhecimento das contradições nas práticas cotidianas para, ao refutá-las, reconhecer o Turismo como agente transformador. Pontuam-se os equipamentos do cotidiano constituídos, e sua tipificação diferenciada ao se caracterizar para a prática da visitação turística. Parte-se dos aspectos localizacionais da rede hoteleira. Reconhece-se, assim, mesmo em uma cidade essencialmente industrial, o papel do Turismo na configuração das suas estruturas urbanas. 

Touristic Urbanization of Caxias do Sul, RS, Brazil: A category of analysis in the space’s social production - Studying the formation of touristic urbanization contrasting with the social space of everyday life for Caxias do Sul. This research aims to understand the involvements of new elements materialized in place with its producers and consumers, in the social reproduction of space. This exploratory research has a history-genetic methodological basis. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the urbanization process as a category of analysis in the constitution of the Caxias do Sul urban network. In this research is adopted a logical recognition of the contradictions in the everyday practices and as it was refute, to recognize tourism as a transforming agent. Points to the constituted everyday equipments, and its distinctive character when is characterized to the practice of touristic visitation. The study was based on the hotel network's locations. It is recognized, so even in a primarily industrial city, the role of tourism in the configuration of their urban structures.
