Abstract
Lgb.Subst.*gastald(i)- nur in latinisierten und romanisierten Formen erhalten - ist erst im 7.Jh. überliefert, es ist aber sicher viel älter. Als Rechtswort steht es in den diplomatischen Urkunden, in "Edictum Rothari" (um 650), später in den "Regesten von Farfa" (718), in "Edictum Liutprandi" (um 750), in "Paulus Diaconus" (um 770)u ö.
