Abstract
Now a days, teaching social studies must focus in searching that the students acquire the necessary abilities to know, and understand facts; to make critical analysis of the processes; and to approach conflicts and dilemmas with responsibility. To reach this goals, teachers must make a critical reflection on their pedagogical practice, and work together with their students towards a real comprehension of the social studies, the construction of the attitudes and abilities of the social scientists, and a compromise with democratic citizenship.
