Abstract
En septiembre del 2006, el papa Benedicto XVI pronunció una lección magistral en la Universidad de Ratisbona, de la que años atrás había sido profesor. En ella, ensayaba un tentativo de encuentro entre fe y razón a partir de la entrada, llevado a cabo en el primer siglo de nuestra era, del cristianismo en el contexto de la filosofía helénica. Pero el principal motivo de la repercusión mundial de dicho discurso fue la citación de un texto donde se apuntaba la relación entre violencia y religión islámica. En el presente artículo descodificamos la pretensión del papa a partir de tres categorías claves: cristianismo, islam e ilustración.
