Abstract
Kafka intentó sin éxito publicar un libro, titulado Los hijos, en el que se reunían tres relatos compuestos en el invierno entre 1912 y 1913: “La condena”, “La metamorfosis” y “El fogonero”. En este ensayo, el autor interpreta estos tres relatos como una unidad, a partir del motivo que sugiere el título del libro proyectado por Kafka. Así, estos tres textos exploran los intentos fallidos del hijo por autoafirmarse dentro de la opresiva esfera de influencia del padre.
