Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to establish the place of Severo Sarduy’s poetry within the context of Latin American letters. The rhizomatic nature and the obsession with signifiers permeating his poetry, connect him with the Neobaroque tradition except for in one big area: his rejection of transcendence. Whereas contemporary Neobaroque poetry, following the imprint of José Lezama Lima, tends to put up transcendent systems, Sarduy’s, in contrast, claims immanence as a way to orchestrate an onto-epistemology based on present, paroxysm, and the pair pleasure-revolution.
