Abstract
Having a strong reverberation in the souls of Orthodox Christians in Romania, the icons considered as miraculous, the healing places and the places of power are real attractions for religious tourism. The indisputable advantage of this type of heritage is that, besides the celebrations when the infl ux of pilgrims is maximum it was noticed that also during the rest of the year there is a signifi cant number of visitors, which can be a good basis for the development of an organized tourism. The counties from the Northern part of South Muntenia development region (Arges, Dâmbovita and Prahova) have several important attractions of this type of heritage, out of which we mention – The Miraculous Icon of Mother of God from Namaiesti Monastery (Arges), The Miraculous Icon of Mother of God from Ghighiu Monastery (Prahova), The Icon of Saint George from Viforata Monastery (Dambovita), etc. In this paper I am presenting an inventory of these attractions, with a brief description of each one of them.
