Abstract
ABSTRACT This article presents and discusses a short review that Élisée Reclus wrote about José María Samper's Ensayo sobre las revoluciones políticas, one of the classic works of nineteenth century Colombian thought. The frame article compares how each author addresses the issue of race and geography in order to uncoverthe similarities and differences between the two authors, each of whom interpreted the Colombian society of their era from a different perspective.
