Abstract
Como es bien sabido, el humanismo no fue un movimiento literario-cultural preocupado tan sólo por la recuperación del latín clásico. Desde un primer momento, entre las disciplinas incluidas en los studia humanitatis, el renovado interés por la Poesía, la Retórica y la Gramática auspició el estudio minucioso y concienzudo de la lengua del Lacio; al mismo tiempo, los humanistas volvieron sus ojos hacia el griego, prácticamente olvidado durante la Edad Media y cuyo estudio se fue recuperando poco a poco; por fin, y de la mano precisamente de los estudios de Gramática, los humanistas se esforzaron en dignificar las diferentes lenguas vulgares. Este último fenómeno surgió, como otros, del primer Trecento italiano...
