Abstract
This paper describes and analyzes some items of settlement systems in central Mexico. Four attributes of the system were studied: i) the cities integrating the system; ii) the hierarchical arrangement; iii) the influence areas, and iv) the interaction between cities. Thus it was possible to define the subsystems. The history of the settlement systems in central Mexico was also examined, in order to indetify and differenciate the permanent components (structure) determining the behavior of the system, from temporal components (program).
